Analyzing Print Adds
This activity will give you an opportunity to analyze print media to determine if advertisements portray men, women and ethnic groups in stereotypical roles.
You will need a magazine, paper, scissors and glue.
Examine the ads in the magazine you have selected. Find a minimum of five advertisements that stereotype females, males or certain ethnic groups.
Cut the ads out of the magazine and glue them to a sheet of white paper. On the back of the paper, write a brief explanation of how this ad supports certain stereotypes.
Write the name of the magazine in which you found the ad on the back of the page.
